Where You'll Find Me

I'm currently running my blog over at WritersAfterDark.net. I'd love it if you stopped by and hang for a bit! I'll return the favor, promise!

Running two blogs gets a bit difficult, so bear with me while I figure things out. In the meantime, if I could interest you in industry news, writing tips, and poking some fun at writerly problems, you'll find me here:

A to Z Challenge—S.K.-isms! J is for . . . [ & Celebrating ]

J is for Justcation. Otherwise known as spacing out. Example:

“. . . And the professor said if I apply myself enough, I could graduate with good grades, even though I didn’t show up for almost a month. But I guess I’m just that good, you know? Kevin? Kevin?”
“Sorry, chick, I just wanted to know why you were crying.”
“Because I’m happy, and you introduced yourself and you’re so nice. Everyone is so nice . . . are you annoyed?”
“No. I only took a justcation.”
“A what?”
“A mental vacation, just now, because you were going on and on and on . . .”

*S.K.’s original. I was going to change this one. I tried many times but nothing else came to me. So you know what? Suck it up, I did.

This hop comes with easy instructions: Sign up, post something to celebrate,
hop around, cheer on others, and bask in warm glow. Full instructions and badge *here.*

This week I'm celebrating...Just surviving the busyness. That is all. I realized right now that I can match my celebration to the letter of the day. The fact that I can think about that right now actually is a miracle so let's Just celebrate that too shall we? And I know this one is a copout but J is giving my creativity a kick in the butt. Anyway...at least last week's D still worked with my Disney show celebration. Boom.

I also did my good deed of the quarter and got rid of donated some clothes. Why must the kids clothes pile up so fast? Most importantly why can't they pack their extras away after neatly sorting it out themselves? I must work on that with them. They're not being perfect little slaves just yet.

What are you celebrating?

  5. I, too, have to laugh at the concept of turning children into perfect little slaves. Good luck with that. Ha.

  7. This is the best word yet! I'm taking it, if you don't mind. As to your word choice for that good deed, excellent. Donate is far nobler than "get rid of," and you need three words when only one is necessary.

    1. Exactly! Only one word is necessary. Boom!

  9. Justcation - oh, yes, I've taking some of those. Guilty as charged.
And kid's clothes? Well, they wouldn't be kid's clothes if they were put away or left in the drawers - they are more fun when thrown around a room, sorted randomly for dress-up. :) It's something I have to work on with my kids and they are past the dress up stage (well, mostly).

  10. Turns out I take Justcations a lot. Some people at work probably think I'm a little slow because of it.

  12. I'm totally with you on the "just surviving" part. A-Z is harder than I expected, and I'm just barely hanging in ...

  16. I agree with Joyce, just surviving is totally worth a celebration. I like the idea of a justcation. At times when you can't physically get away a short mental getaway can do wonders.

  17. I tend to space out too. Maybe next time someone asks me what's up I'll just say I was taking a justcation. ;)
