Where You'll Find Me

I'm currently running my blog over at WritersAfterDark.net. I'd love it if you stopped by and hang for a bit! I'll return the favor, promise!

Running two blogs gets a bit difficult, so bear with me while I figure things out. In the meantime, if I could interest you in industry news, writing tips, and poking some fun at writerly problems, you'll find me here:

My New 2014 Business Card — IWSG (15)

So here's the thing . . .

The thing is . . . well the thing is the thing, isn't it? We make "the thing" whatever we want it to be. And my current thing is all about playing catch up. This year really surprised me in many ways, but more specifically in learning something positive about myself. I say "positive" because it's all I got at the moment and I refuse to go with "insecurity" this round. Here's the thing I learned: I now have a new title to go alongside my 'writer' title.

I've been working on several different projects, but I haven't exactly finished the one that was supposed to be done by now. Or any of them for that matter. And so now I can officially proclaim myself as a professional procrastinator. So this is my new business card:

So now with three months to go until we say goodbye to the lovely 2014, I have to perform some kind of miracle. Nothing rushed, mind you . . . well at this point, it wouldn't be rushed would it? Ha! No, I have to play catch up and I have to get something finished. Probably Static . . . since I have the cover ready and all. OMG I have the cover ready! And it's awesome! But of course I'd say that since it's my book cover, whatevs! I will finish revision and after getting some critiques I'll set up a reveal. I just want it to be closer to release so it's not a wasted promo. And then, and then, and then . . . I hope to keep the momentum going (not the procrastinating one).

So tell me about you.
What title are you adding to your business card this year?

  1. So nice to meet you, Madame procrastinator! Actually, I wonder if for us all it's a way of avoiding making choices between two really good things. ...but we're waiting for STATIC! :)

  2. Ha! I should definitely add procrastinator to my business card. Or maybe "professional TV watcher."

  3. Hmm, all my happy, shiny, new goals of 2014 are now buried under stuff and covered with dust. Time to pull them out, blow them off, and get going. Again. It's only October 1st - we've got plenty of time.... Right?

  6. I'm into my second year of official procrastination. Last year it was a 30 day exploratory trip to Ecuador, a two month Route 66 motorcycle journey, preparation to move to Ecuador, a 7 day cruise and the final move.

This year it's been settling into our first apartment in Ecuador, buying and decorating for it, getting all our legalities done, meeting new friends, finding our way around the city, learning Spanish, moving to a NEW apartment, then coming to the US for a two month visit.

I really need to get book three in my mystery series done before I lose all my readers. Yup, it's official. My new title is "Too Busy To Do Anything".

I have my latest cover design scheduled to post on Monday! Julie Flanders' new novella debuts. I hope you can pop over to see it! AND snap up an ebook. LOL.

  8. Daydreamer - that's what I need to add to my business card - too much time in mental space. . .

  9. Haha! LOVE your business card!

Wow, when you said only three months to go until the year ends, it was like a kick in the pants! Where has 2014 gone? It really does make me reflect on what I've accomplished (or not accomplished :) ) this year. Yikes! Better get crackin'. :)

  11. That made me chuckle.
I added Ninja Captain years ago. No one knows what it means, but it look cool on the card.
No procrastinating now - we're going to be prodding you!

  14. Procrastination...I know it too well! Although, sometimes it causes me to work more efficiently when I have a fire lit under my but because I've waited so long :) I'd really like to add "professional napper" to my business card, but I never seem to find the time to nap!

  15. Keep it going! You can't slack now.

I added professional cat wrangler to my card.

  16. I love your new business card, I may need to stall that!! I believe we all tend to procrastinate to the tenth degree!!! Can't wait to see your cover!!!

  17. I'm laughing at myself. I meant steal that!!!!

  18. Well since you took my title, I will be "Professional put-stuff-offer". I agree though the cover is great and the story is too, can't wait to see the changes you made.

  19. I think my business card would say, "Patricia Lynne, YA Author and Life's B**ch" (didn't want to curse on your blog) because something is always dragging me away from the computer, and when I finally get a moment, I am too exhausted to string a sentence together. I'm not even kidding. Things calm down enough for a couple weeks and then blow up again.

  20. Well looking around my office I've decided to be honest with myself. Clearly with my writing "stuff" obsession I need to go with assistant office supply clerk. Assistant because a leadership role would detract from time spent checking new organizing and writing software, and buying more pens and journals.

  21. Nice card, and I can't wait to see the cover!

  22. Love the card. I'm currently involved in too many things to pick a title to add to my guard.

  23. Love the card! I think my card would say "intergalactic superhero" and I would put a drawing of a woman with a cape flying into space with a baby in one hand and a pen in the other, with her pockets stuffed with chocolate truffles. Hmmm... got me thinking....

  24. Yay! I love new business cards. :D I should probably add project juggler to mine... or insomniac!

  25. LOL, love the business card. Cute!

  26. Uh oh, you might want to be careful who you give that card to. Give it to the right creeper and they might ask you to redeem that whole hug and kiss thing. As for us, our business card has our cartoons on it. Because we're awesome* like that.

  27. There's still some time left until the end of the year...in fact there are approx. 86 days, 2064 hours,123858 minutes and 7431494 seconds (according to the countdown clock) LOL

Your business card is really snazzy!
