Where You'll Find Me

I'm currently running my blog over at WritersAfterDark.net. I'd love it if you stopped by and hang for a bit! I'll return the favor, promise!

Running two blogs gets a bit difficult, so bear with me while I figure things out. In the meantime, if I could interest you in industry news, writing tips, and poking some fun at writerly problems, you'll find me here:

Those Crazy Internet Memes!

In one of those odd games life likes to play, let me tell you: I went from disliking memes (waaaaay back when) to having a collection of them. Heck, I even make my own*, like so:

But, well . . . at least I'm not going crazy posting 'Real Men, Real Love, or How Women Should Be Treated Like Queens' memes . . . You've seen those, haven't you? These days you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one.

Don't get me wrong, some are great. But some make you wonder what's going on in this modern dating world (soon to be an episode of WAD), and what kind of perception of romance  is being created by social media for "The Singles" of this era. The thing is . . . they are pretty hilarious when you break them down, and that's exactly what my co-host, Raymond Esposito, and I did in our Writers After Dark YouTube Series

So if you're up for a chuckle,
give us 11-ish minutes of your time and come laugh with us:

Feel free to subscribe to our YouTube channel:

What are your thoughts on Internet Memes: love or hate?
Any funny ones you've seen?

Thanks for watching!!!

  1. I win the first comment award! Should I start waiting outside by my mailbox right away or give it a few days to arrive? I love this one. The memes drive me crazy or make me laugh . . . or make me seriously wonder if people really believe all that "queen" crap. Really? You're going to have a relationship that you expect to succeed when you're always taking and never giving? Please. And those poor cats . . .

    1. No no no no no, the worst part about memes is that everybody thinks, "Oh, words on a picture? That must be a meme!" That's the gist of a lot of them, but pictures with words do not a meme make.

Sorry SK, not to trash your obviously amazing memery.

    2. Actually Noah sorry to trash your obviously amazing insight but the definition of a meme is according to Oxford dictionary: a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users.

    3. @Lynda, I say wait by the mailbox and wait for the "First Comment Award" it's on its way . . . O_O lol. And yes, beats me why they're single with those expectations hahaha.

@Noah, as a young single guy, what's your thought on the ridiculous "dating expectations" that memes, or memes "look alikes", are setting for the rest of the world?

@Raymond, I stand by what we said in the video . . . do you think we can get Oxford dictionary to start a movement to change the pronunciation and make it more exotic-like? Get on that! lol

  3. Internet memes make the world go round! Hubby is always finding funny ones to show me... usually while he's at his day job. It's how I know he's working hard. ;)

  7. I love a good meme. If the creator of all memes is one 17 year old girl, then I would actually bet that she's incredibly poor. I mean, how do you make money off of a meme? It's just a free picture with funny words on it. Meme making must be the least lucrative career ever. Well, after writing.
